Shoes are so important to your foot health and your overall structure and movement! When you are looking for shoes - especially shoes you are going to spend a lot of time in - it is critical you look for these three qualities:
- Be sure the shoes bend at the ball of the foot (the area where the toes attach to the foot) and don’t continue into the arch
- Be sure the shoes do not have a lot of torque when you twist the front of the shoe and the back of the shoe in the opposite direction
- Be sure the shoes have a firm heel counter (the part of the shoe directly behind your heel that cups your heel).
These three qualities combined will give stability to your foot and ankle.
